On August 2nd, 2004 we have started together with Central Maritime Museus (Gdańsk, Poland) exploration of wooden sail boat. That wrack has been earilier found by local group of divers on position found by fishermen. Wrecks lies on sandy sea bottom ca. 15nm north-west from Stilo
The works consist mainly of removing the sand and the wooden debris of the collapsed structure from the inside of the hull. Untill now we uncovered the bareels with cargo in the mid section othe wreck, but found no historicaly important objects or artifacts which would allow to identify the wreck. Each group of divers spends approx. 30 minutes on the bottom followed by 20 minutes of accelerated deco. Because of the depth of 38 m and difficult conditions down there - the temperature is between 3° and 4° C and the visibility which drops from initialy excellent 15 m to 2-3 m when the ejector pump is in use - we use trimix 28/20 as the bottom gas and 100% oxygene for decompresion.
