Wrecks identification
S-50

Identification of S-50 wreck was done by us (S.Popek and M.Rułka), W. Ossowski and L. Trawicki from Central Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. On the 13th day of May 2004 we have compered information collected by Maciej Rułka, Sebastian Popek and our frinds during dives with informations from Central Maritime Museum. Since December 28th 2002 we have total dive time there over 10 houers.

At the meeting we have compared a drawing (by Maciej Rułka) of wreck and derbies field with images of S-50. Type of bow and propeler as well as steam engine and boiler are the same type as S-50 had. Also reported position of sinking is nearby acctual position of wreck.

A munition type and informations from steam guagues manufacturing company proof that this vessel had been in service in last decade of 19t century and still had been in second decade of 20th century. That was a period of time when she was in service.

Today we are nearly sure that it is S-50.

V 315

Identification of V 315 wreck was done by us (S.Popek and M.Rułka). In july 2004 we have chance to compare video material from diving with information and drawings taken from our bibliography.

We also appreciate a lot priceless informations from Paweł Wlodarczyk.

That vessel has been named as a "trawler near by Mt. Vernon". The true is that that wreck lies on a bottom near Mt. Vernon but it was not trawler. We are nearly sure that it is former KM V 315. Identification has been done after checking wreck dimension and general construction with technical data and drawings of V 315. It is also important how V 315 was armed with canons and anti-aircraft guns and that you can clearly see those guns and cannons on wreck. Other devices also give a great advice about the wreck. Finally its current position is very close to the position of sinking after collision with S/S Hendrik Fisser 7 on March 12th, 1945 when she sunk. Reported in 1945 was 54°53'n 18°20'o and now it is 55°01'N 18°21'E according to GPS. Today we are nearly sure that it is V 315.
